KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a naturally occurring anti-inflammatory tripeptide derived from the C-terminal sequence of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), studied for anti-inflammatory activity independent of melanocortin receptor binding.
Research focus: Research has focused on NF-κB pathway suppression and mucosal inflammation, with the most-cited preclinical data coming from inflammatory bowel disease models (a documented 60–75% reduction in disease activity in DSS-induced colitis models) and dermatological/contact-hypersensitivity models (a documented 70% reduction in ear swelling in one cited study).
